Modern day ski trip planning is so much more than choosing a resort from glossy brochures months in advance and hoping that it snows.
True powder connoisseurs refuse to be locked into a schedule, instead following snowfall to ensure consistent powder skiing. The Powder Bible is an invaluable resource containing a proven method to ensure the best conditions in the region.
The Philosophy of The Powder Bible is ‘Knowledge = Pow(d)er’ and contains valuable links to a wealth of Internet resources covering up-to-the-minute snow reports, custom weather forecasts and other social media repositories.
Invaluable statistics from Powder Guru Tony Crocker have been evaluated to rank 50 resorts in North America favouring areas with high and reliable snowfall.
The Powder Bible has also reviewed 35 top resorts worldwide in its Resort Guide – each one of these resorts is renowned for its Powder, Off-Piste or Backcountry skiing. Each resort has a 2 page spread covering relevant Facts/Figures, Snowfall data, Best areas to ski powder, plus comments on Dining/Nightlife and Local’s Tips.
The Powder Bible eBook Richard Ross
The most valuable aspect of this book is the strategy outlined for making a successful ski trip - stack the odds in your favor and don't be afraid to move to get to the best conditions. I have used this approach for more than 20 years and it is far more effective than booking a place then tolerating poor skiing. Although this approach is ideally suited to chasing powder, it applies to spring skiing, or any other off piste skiing, as well. If you are happy skiing groomers this approach will not help much. If you are a skilled and motivated skier looking for fresh tracks in-bounds or in the side country it's the best option. The listing of ski areas is useful but the information provided is quite general. It will point you in the right direction then its up to you. I just returned from a two-week ski trip, mostly in the French alps. We were focused on Chamonix and La Grave but this book convinced us to give Verbier (Switzerland) a try and it was delightful. We also tried Courmayeur (Italy) and found it to be pretty much as described. I have skied most of the North American areas listed and this book does a good job explaining why one might ski at each.
The only problem I have with this book is it reveals how and where to ski and that means more crowds in the best places. So, please don't read this book!

If you like me spend your days planning your next ski holiday, this is book will be an invaluable tool.
It covers topics from choosing the right resort to choosing the right equipment and most things in between. The author has spent a huge amount of time travelling and has managed to share some great tips and secrets that he has learned over the years. The resort section gives a great short summary on most of the major resorts in the world and tips on where to ski in each one.
Overall its a great read and well worth the price if you are planning a ski holiday.
